This week for girl friend time we will chat about PEACE.
Wikipedia's definition is:Bold
Peace is a term that most commonly refers to an absence of aggression, violence or hostility, but which also represents a larger concept wherein there are healthy or newly-healed interpersonal or international relationships, safety in matters of social or economic welfare, the acknowledgment of equality and fairness in political relationships and, in world matters, peacetime; a state of being absent any war or conflict. Reflection on the nature of peace is also bound up with considerations of the causes for its absence or loss. Among these potential causes are: insecurity, social injustice, economic inequality, political and religious radicalism, and acute nationalism.
from the Anglo-Norman pas , and meaning "freedom from civil disorder", the English word came into use in various personal greetings from c.1300 as a translation of the biblical terms pax (from the
Vulgate) and Greek eirene, which in turn were renderings of the Hebrew shalom. Shalom, cognate with the Arabic "salaam", has multiple meanings: safety, welfare, prosperity, security, fortune, friendliness. The personalised meaning is reflected in a nonviolent lifestyle, which also describes a relationship between any people characterized by respect, justice and goodwill. This latter understanding of peace can also pertain to an individuals sense of himself or herself, as to be "at peace" with one's own mind attested in Europe from c.1200. The early English term is also used in the sense of "quiet", reflecting a calm, serene, and meditative approach to the family or group relationships that avoids quarreling and seeks tranquility — an absence of disturbance or agitation.

Philippians 4:4-7 (New King James Version)
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
I Just LOVE this scripture! It gives me peace to know that The Lord has everything in control IF we only trust in him and we should NOT be anxious and have peace about situations!

This week I would like know if this verse helps you. Just leave a comment. Once you leave a comment you are entered in this weeks contest. Here is what you will get: an "itty bitty bunny pincushion" (pattern from bunny hill courtesy of my friend swooze on quiltchat.com) AND a matching Easter table runner.

I used to have peace but since we lost our son it's hard to come by, there's always the personal knowledge now that really bad stuff can actually happen to us.What is happening in this nation & around the world makes it difficult to believe that God is indeed in control & to maintain peace of mind, not become a victim of chronic anxiety. I find a sense of peace in sewing and quilting so I spend lots of time at it.

These are great verses. I am looking for peace after an arsonist burned down our house. It's been almost 3 years, but I haven't recovered from that awful tragedy, yet. I love to quilt and find calmness in that. Thanks for sharing these verses as I move forward with God to find more pace.

After the past few months of personal loss, I search for the peace of God. It is coming, somewhat slowly but in His time. Our new minister is truly a man filled with God's peace, an inspiration to us all.

Peace is reminding me whether it is a problem or an inconvenience. Problems I as for Gods help. All else I deal with my self. remember if your house is on fire or your child is starving you have a problem and all else is just an inconvenience.

Hello fellow Stashbuster, I love your blog and your quote. I've read the other comments and agree, things are just getting crazy everywhere, aren't they? We had a man this morning shoot into one of our schoolbuses while running from the police! Thank goodness no one was hurt. Yes, the economy stinks, people are loosing their homes and jobs. We're sweating out my DH possibly being laid off. I reminded him again today that while God may close a window and open a door, he never promised it would be easy in that hallway.

God's peace is the only thing that keeps me going. He also gives us things such as sewing, quilting, etc. that gives us time to use our hands and time to think about Him.

I found your blog through stashbusters and love it. I don't want to be entered into the drawing but wanted to comment on the scripture. These verses are good ones to say once a week, once a day sometimes in my case. I tend to forget to leave it with God and that if I let Him He can and will handle everything that life keeps throwing my way. I am still learning but that is okay. I'll grow stronger every day.

This is definitely one of my favorites. I also love "Rejoice with joy unspeakable". My life is absolutely great at age 54, I'm on top of the world, have no enemies and always try to see the good in things. Take care.

This verse is a reminder to me that God does not want me to worry. He will take care of my needs, worries and concerns. I just need to let go and be happy in his love. It is often hard for me to let go and give it to God.. When I do and am filled with peace and know I am loved...

In this worldwide economic upheaval that we are going thru, my dh recently lost his job. I have been mad, jumping up and down, but now at peace because I realise that we are one of many, and this is how it is to be in this world of greed. You give us enlightenment mamacrafty.
